Using Energy Wisely To Help Save The Environment

Hello readers, my name is Sandy Loomis and my blog focuses on the importance of saving energy to help the environment. I'll tell you how you can reduce the amount of energy that you use in your home and this will save you money too. Using energy efficient light bulbs and turning up your thermostat a few degrees in the summer can really cut your energy costs. Simple things like turning off the lights when you're not in a room and drying your clothes on a clothesline are other ways that you can cut your energy use. These are just a few smart things that you can do and when you read my blog, you'll learn many other ways to save energy. It's my wish that this blog will make everyone more energy conscious to help save the environment.

Common Myths Regarding Solar Panel Installations

Solar panel energy is quickly gaining traction because it's energy-efficient. When it comes to solar system installation, some myths make solar energy less desirable for homeowners. Here are some common myths you need to know concerning solar panel installations.

Going Solar Involves Going Off the Grid

While it's possible to install off-grid solar panels by using solar batteries, many solar panels are connected to the grid. This is because many homeowners prefer to use solar energy during the day and electricity from the grid at night.

However, you can still achieve all your energy needs by using solar panels through a system called net metering. With this system, your utility will give you credits for excess energy generated during the day. Net metering allows you to be charged only for the net amount of energy you use from the grid. Generating excess energy from your panels means you can use the net metering credits in the future.

Solar Panels Produce More Energy During Summer

Heat isn't the main determining factor when it comes to solar panel energy. Usually, solar panels generate energy from light and not heat. Although hot summer days have more hours of sunshine, solar panels aren't fully efficient on these days.

Excessive heat leads to low efficiency because the photovoltaic cells don't function as effectively under these conditions. This means solar panels use less energy during the summer than during the winter. However, they generate clean energy throughout the year.

Solar Panel Installations Are Expensive

Many people believe that solar panels are for wealthy people. While a home solar system can cost more, you don't make the complete payment during installation. There are solar financing options that enable you to pay gradually.

Furthermore, there are tax rebates and incentives that offset the cost of solar systems. Also, solar panels need minimal maintenance and are durable.

You Cannot Go Solar If You Don't Own Your House

Community solar programs apply to people living in rentals or apartment buildings. These programs allow multiple people to use a shared solar array. Purchase costs and the installation of solar panels are shared among the tenants. This allows everyone to use the shared system based on their budget requirements.

Going solar can be a tough decision with all the conflicting information that people spread around. Make sure you research deeply to debunk all the myths about solar panels. This will ensure you are clear about your expectations.
